A fire on New Year’s Day heavily damaged the 3rd Rail Bar & Grill along Route 66 in Pacific, Mo., and will remain closed indefinitely until it is renovated, according to the Washington Missourian newspaper.
Pacific Fire Chief Rick Friedmann said the fire, which was reported about 4 a.m., damaged about 45 percent of the bar.
A post on the restaurant’s Facebook page also said the building suffered structural damage and will be closed “until further notice.”
The 3rd Rail, festooned with railroad and gas station memorabilia, is located in the old Sheffield’s restaurant on Osage Avenue (aka Route 66) in Pacific.
The bar also hosted an annual Cave Jam and other music festivals where music was performed in limestone caves across the road. That had to be an atmosphere.
What a shame! Great place with good food. Hope the owners can recover and reopen again!
