Sports Illustrated’s much-ballyhooed swimsuit edition this year includes a section that was shot on Route 66.
That was confirmed by taking a gander at the magazine’s cover that was revealed this week:
If you can’t see it, here’s the relevant excerpt:
The Route 66 section claims to cover seven of the Mother Road’s eight states along a 2,000-mile stretch of the Mother Road.
After the recent death of Gay Parita Sinclair station owner Gary Turner, I’d heard Sports Illustrated did a photo shoot with a few of the swimsuit models at the Missouri Route 66 landmark last spring.
Such shoots don’t always make it into the pages of nationally distributed magazines for varying reasons. So a Route 66 shoot in such a famous and prominent issue wasn’t a sure thing. But the cover this week confirms it’s happening.
The issue should be on newsstands by Monday, although it’s been known to show up in mailboxes and a few places before then. Images from the Route 66 shoot probably will be online in a week or so.
