Tulsa World reporter Jimmie Tramel recently cruised around Tulsa in the genuine Batmobile, which is set to be on the block at this weekend’s Leake Auto Auction.
Tramel did take the Batmobile — inspired by the 1960s television show — down Route 66; a stretch of 11th Street (aka Route 66) was recognizable in some of the footage.
The Batmobile actually is a 1959 Dodge Custom Roadster. Batman and Robin costumes come with the car.
This is NOT the ORIGINAL Batmobile, which to the uninformed, was developed from a Ford Motor Company styling prototype which appeared at many Ford Shows in the late 50’s… This car is, but a replica of the original BATMAN show car and resembles it only somewhat.
