A fragrance company introduced a product that supposedly smells like Route 66 itself.
Los Angeles-based Xyrena recently launched Xyrena 66, a fragrance for men and women.
Here’s the description:
Inspired by historic Route 66 and the excitement of the open road, Xyrena 66 is the ultimate fragrance for any car enthusiast. Fusing notes of low-octane gasoline, motor oil, and leather car interior, Xyrena 66 is surprisingly sexy and wearable.
If you’re laughing, remember Ralph Lauren made a lot of money producing a cologne that smelled much like a leather saddle.
If you made your own Route 66 fragrance, what would you add? Perhaps the pine trees around Flagstaff, Arizona? The aroma of green chiles or pinon from New Mexico? Maybe even the smell of biscuits and gravy from an old diner?
Xyena 66 perfume goes for $54 and may be purchased here. The Xyrena 66 vibe spray ranges from $18 for a 2-ounce bottle to $54 for 8 ounces.

I’m sure I’ve smelled exactly like the Mother Road on several occasions but never thought of it as marketable or even desirable.
“Aw, precious li’l darlin’! You smell like 2000 miles of bad road. Let’s go in the bedroom!”
I suspect rather not.
