Cindy’s Eagle Rock, aka Cindy’s Coffee Shop, in Los Angeles will close for several weeks for repairs after a pickup truck crashed through the entrance when the restaurant was closed.
According to Los Angeles Eater, the mishap occurred about 1 a.m. Saturday. The driver apparently swerved off Colorado Boulevard (aka Route 66) and crashed through the entrance, destroying at least two dining booths.
Cindy’s tweeted several photos of the damage, including the one seen above.
LA Eater reported a similar accident damaged the building in 2007. The Facebook account for Cindy’s said the restaurant is considering protective barriers around the building to keep this from happening again.
It remains unknown whether anyone was ticketed or arrested after the crash.
Monique King and Paul Rosenbluh bought the 1948 restaurant and reopened it in April 2014. The new owners launched a successful Kickstarter campaign to fix the restaurant’s iconic sign.
Justin Timberlake shot the recently released music video for “Can’t Stop the Feeling” at spots around the Eagle Rock neighborhood. Cindy’s Eagle Rock figures prominently in the footage. The restaurant said Timberlake’s booth was left undamaged in the wreck.
