The Fuel 66 food-truck court in Tulsa recently held a soft opening, but a grand opening is this weekend.
Fuel 66, on 11th Street (aka Route 66) and Atlanta Avenue, features a heated patio, a beer garden, large-screen TVs, lawn games and a rotating array of food trucks from the region. The actual grand-opening celebration will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday.
According to a news release:
Fuel 66’s grand opening weekend will be November 25th-November 27th from 11am-2am and will include live music, a collection of classic cars, s’mores happy hour, kid friendly activities, $4 drink specials, lawn games and food trucks. Located on 11th street and Atlanta avenue along historic Route 66, the rotating calendar of food trucks at Fuel 66 will serve lunch at 11am and dinner at 5pm, but the bar will be open from 11am-2am daily (except Tuesday).
“We will have lunch and dinner trucks, and at least one late night food truck on the weekends,” said Robert Carnoske, Fuel 66 partner and co-owner of Masa Food Truck and restaurant.
Fuel 66 will also do its part to provide “fuel” for hungry Tulsans as they kick off the holiday season by partnering with the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. Kids will have fun making s’mores and playing corn hole or giant chess while adults watch their favorite game on one of the five televisions located both indoors and outdoors.
Fuel 66 will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. every day but Monday.
According to earlier reports, food trucks will pay 2 percent of their sales to Fuel 66’s owners. Most of the food court’s profits will come from beer sales.
It seems like a win-win. Food-truck owners operate from a high-visibility space so they can develop a following. Fuel 66’s owners benefit from the beer sales and budding restaurants that offer a variety of cuisine.
