The historic Nob Hill neighborhood of Albuquerque over the weekend opened a visitors center to tell tourists about the area’s history through photos and interactive maps.
The Nob Hill visitors center is in the Re-Max Select building on Central Avenue (aka Route 66) just west of Carlisle Boulevard.
According to KOB-TV:
Mayor Tim Keller said he sees the center as a way to promote tourism in one of the city’s busiest and most important corridors.
“When folks were driving across the country, they would stop in Nob Hill typically to eat (and) shop, and it was really one of the jewels along that entire Route 66 path,” he said. “And it still is for the City of Albuquerque.”
The center will offer walking maps, information on events. and coupons for local businesses.
Nob Hill celebrated its centennial just last year. This 12-minute documentary, produced just before the big anniversary, is quite good:
Nob Hill also maintains a good website here.

What’s up with that picture? It looks like a model. The depth of field is confusing, as are other elements of the picture. I can’t wrap my brain around it.
