Several big Route 66 festivals this past weekend — Illinois Red Carpet Corridor Festival in northern Illinois, the Arizona Route 66 Fun Run, and Rawhide Days in Tucumcari, New Mexico.
From the Fun Run’s start in Seligman and nearby Grand Canyon Caverns, longtime roadie Frank Kocevar put together this video that stars Angel “Guardian Angel of Route 66” Delgadillo:
An estimated 800 to 900 vehicles take part in the Fun Run each year in early May, which goes from Seligman to near the California border in Topock, Arizona.
With the 90-mile Corridor Festival, video blogger Adventures with Mike put together this 11-minute video of his experiences this year:
At Rawhide Days, which pays tribute to Tucumcari area’s role as a shooting location for the “Rawhide” television show from 1959 to 1965, the big event is a cattle drive down Route 66.
Here’s a streaming video of the parade; I’ve embedded it so it begins when the cowboys and Texas Longhorn cattle come into clear view.
