The Route 66 Road Ahead Partnership recently launched its own YouTube channel and uploaded its first on-the-road video filmed by three young guys in an eight-week campaign that seeks to attract younger generations to the historic highway.
Here’s the first video from the trio in Illinois, uploaded today:
According to a news release from the partnership:
“It’s a road trip, the whole way down Route 66, by three 20-something guys trying to find out what’s fun for young people on Route 66,” reports David K. Dunaway, Chair of the Road Ahead Youth Outreach Task Force.
The Road Ahead enlisted the talents of Scotty Leonard, Willim F. Thomas and Kevin McGee to film and edit the videos in addition to implementing the social media communications.
The campaign will utilize YouTube videos, Twitter messages, Facebook posts, and Instagram images to build and engage followers. Highlights include playing at a video arcade museum in Illinois, climbing an amazing clocktower in Missouri, and more.
Route 66 enthusiasts of all ages are invited to join the fun. You can follow the campaign on Twitter @Rt66Ahead, on Instagram @rt66roadahead, on Facebook at Rt. 66 Road Ahead Partnership, and on YouTube at Route 66 Road Ahead Partnership.
Chris Thomas of the partnership also passed along this note via email:
… We were just yesterday discussing the idea of inviting young folks and others from across the Mother Road to send us their own videos of fun, unique experiences they know of along Rt. 66. We will then post these to the YouTube channel, as a way of ensure video content is presented – beyond the initial youth videos that will start appearing this Thursday. We’ll keep you and everyone else posted regarding this opportunity as it is developed.
It will be interesting to see how this campaign goes. If nothing else, it will spark a few ideas for people who soon will be planning their 2019 vacations.
