New Oklahoma Travel Guide illustrations contain Easter eggs for Route 66 fans

I recently received an announcement the 2020 Oklahoma Travel Guide now is available for free to order from TravelOK.com.

A news release touts Oklahoma’s 400 miles of Route 66:

“We are so excited about this new Oklahoma Travel Guide,” said Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell, who is also the state’s Secretary of Tourism & Branding. “It showcases all of the things that make our state such a special place to live and visit. Readers will learn about our awesome stretch of Route 66, our unique American Indian and Western heritage and our incredible outdoors experiences. If you want to see America, you’ve got to see Oklahoma, and this guide gives travelers a road map for how to do that.” […]
Inside the guide, readers will find more vibrant illustrations and nearly 200 pages of only-in-Oklahoma attractions. The book highlights new gems like Tulsa’s Gathering Place and Oklahoma City’s Scissortail Park alongside longtime favorites like Beavers Bend State Park in Broken Bow and the Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge in Jet.
The guide features Q&As with Oklahomans from around the state, including professional bass angler Edwin Evers of Taloga and hip-hop artist Jabee Williams of Oklahoma City. It also includes directories of tourism attractions and accommodations around the state.

Hayley Riggs McGhee, publications manager for the tourism department, also noted in an email some subtle salutes to the Mother Road:

If you look closely at the icons on the cover illustration and the Route 66 illustration, you can see a lot of Route 66 attractions represented, including the Blue Whale, the Round Barn, POPS, Buck Atom and Totem Pole Park.

The cover illustration is above; the Route 66 illustration is below.

Those who wish to order the Oklahoma Travel Guide can visit TravelOK.com/Brochures or call (800) 652-6552. The guide is packaged with an official Oklahoma state map. Other guides from the Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department are available, including the Discover Oklahoma Destination Dining Guide, the Oklahoma Route 66 Guide and the Oklahoma Indian Country Guide. Oklahoma Agritourism publications and brochures from attractions around the state also can be ordered.

Travelers also can view and download the new Travel Guide and other publications online at TravelOK.com/Brochures. They can also pick up print copies of the guides at Oklahoma Tourism Information Centers, Oklahoma state parks and many tourism attractions and accommodations around the state.
