The folks who are renovating an old Texaco station in Galena, Kansas, into Gearhead Curios are asking for old license plates to help cover the ceiling of their shop.
The shop put out this message on Facebook a few days ago:
In case you missed the initial news about a year ago, Aaron Perry, a veteran and Route 66 enthusiast from Wakarusa, Kansas, closed on the purchase of a 1939 Texaco at Sixth and Main streets (aka Route 66) in Galena.
Perry holds long-term plans where he wants to bring back the station’s neon lighting, renovate the interior and exterior and add vintage gas pumps. One can watch the Perry family’s progress here.
Perry also plans to sell his “gearhead” artwork (hence the name for the station) and Route 66 souvenirs.

Great to hear. Wishing the Perry family all the best for 2020 and good progress on their project.
By the way: the old gasstation on 66 and Elm could do with a similar family!
