A PC videogame, “American Motorcycle Simulator,” will be released “soon,” and it takes place on Route 66.
The game is being developed and published by Movie Games S.A., part of PlayWay S.A. The release date is listed as “coming soon,” but PC Gamer reports it will be out the first half of 2021.
Here’s the game’s description on the Steam store, where you can add it to your wishlist:
Have you ever had enough of everything? Did you want to drop everything and move on? What would you say about a great road trip across the States on the legendary Route 66? Only you, your faithful bike, beautiful landscapes and the magnificent roar of the engine.
Sometimes your machine can break down. Then you can try to fix it yourself on the road or go to a garage where you will have more tools, parts, and capabilities. You can also buy upgrades and decorations to make your motorcycle stand out more from the crowd. Repair also other vehicles you meet along the road and it will definitely pay off. Remember about gas – after all, your bike doesn’t run on air. Along the route, you will find several gas stations and in some, there are stores and workshops.
Movie Games produced this trailer for “American Motorcycle Simulator.” You’ll figure out pretty quickly if this were a movie, it probably would be rated PG-13:
More details about the game:
- 2,446 miles to travel
- More than 30 motels, bars, and gogo clubs
- More than 50 gas stations
- More than 100 motorcycle parts
- Four environments (fields, forests, prairies, and mountains)
- Many mini-games (including billiards, darts, poker)
One thing that made me eye-roll is desert footage shows many saguaro cacti in the background, which isn’t native anywhere close to Route 66. That’s a common misperception, but you’d think the creators would be smarter than that.
Too bad it’s not available now. Many Route 66ers have time on their hands while waiting for the coronavirus pandemic to die down.
