Vincent Cricchio of New Jersey after years of post-production will debut a 109-episode video series about Route 66 on YouTube, starting Aug. 23.
Cricchio stated on Facebook he’s spent about a decade editing the footage he shot in late summer 2010 from Chicago to Los Angeles. He wrote:
Many of the personalities still can be found but many others have moved on. This series is a mixed bag of history, roadside attractions, and amazing people. This is the Mother Road. Follow us as we reveal America’s main street. The maps are easy to follow and this series is a great traveling companion. Please like, subscribe and click notifications. He encourages people to subscribe to his YouTube channel here to make sure you don’t miss out. The premiere of the first episode begins at 5 p.m. Eastern time on Aug. 23. Each episode will be about five minutes.

Because so much time has passed since the initial filming, the series will hold some historical value, as well. Case in point: The sizzle reel contains footage of Annabelle Russell of the Mediocre Music Makers before she died of cancer in 2014.
At last report in late 2010, Cricchio was consulting with Timeline Video on the editing in an effort to create a pilot episode to shop to network television.
He wrote in a news release at the time:
The series is a cross between a travel/ history/ reality show. Viewers will discover the history of the road as told by the people who live there, it will showcase where to sleep, eat and play. The show will reveal the talented people along the route by introducing the work of several mural artists, poets, authors and musicians. Some of the episodes will reveal romances that occurred on the old road while other episodes will present the mysteries of the old road. All episodes will display the excitement and adventure waiting behind every turn of Route 66 in a captivating and new approach!
The common thread, besides the road itself, is the shows’ host Vinny and Holly. The series will follow Vinny and Holly as they start their Route 66 journey in Chicago and as they travel the old road across Americas’ heartland to the west coast. Some areas have as many of three old road alignments to choose from, but this series focuses on the oldest drivable alignments. Route 66 can take the form of a four lane highway, a narrow brick road or an old unpaved dirt road. This quality makes the old road as ‘diverse’ as the landscape and people it passes.
Cricchio said in an e-mail at the time he and Holly filmed 240 people during their Route 66 trip and shot about 300 hours of footage.
