Couple gets married under Buck Atom fiberglass statue in Tulsa

A couple exchanged their wedding vows last weekend under the Buck Atom fiberglass statue at Buck Atom’s Cosmic Curios on 66 in Tulsa.

According to KRMG radio in Tulsa, Laura Tone and Rachel LeMaster were married Sunday at the Route 66 landmark long the 11th Street alignment of the Mother Road.

Buck Atom’s owner Mary Beth Babcock told our news partner FOX23 she was thrilled they asked to hold their wedding at her store.
“How fun to start a marriage, start a life, here at Buck’s on Route 66.” She said. “Pretty memorable I would say.”
The couple also booked the business’s airbnb Buck’s Cosmic Crash Pad on Route 66 and took photos along Route 66.

Here are scenes of the nuptials, posted on Facebook:

The 21-foot-tall Buck Atom fiberglass statue was installed in May 2019 during a large ceremony at the shop. Virginia-based Enchanted Castle Studios built Buck Atom, and Chris Wollard built the silvery rocket ship Buck carries.

Mary Beth Babcock opened Buck Atom’s Cosmic Curios on 66 in mid-2018 in a former Route 66 gas station shouting distance from the historic Meadow Gold neon sign.

In addition to the big statue, she also has commissioned elaborate neon signs there. Buck Atom’s has quickly has become a must-see attraction along Route 66’s main corridor in Tulsa.
