Tulsa last week saw its 16th neon sign lighted with the help of the city’s Route 66 Neon Sign Program.
The latest beneficiary is Justin Thompson Catering, which is near 11th Street (aka Route 66) and Lewis Avenue.
Here’s a Facebook post by the Tulsa Route 66 Commission that shows it:
The other recipients of the city’s neon-sign grants are:
- Buck Atom’s Cosmic Curios on Route 66
- Flo’s Burger Diner
- Burnett’s Flowers
- Cities Service Station
- Interparts of Tulsa
- U.S. Studio 66
- Tally’s Good Food Cafe
- Billy Ray’s Catfish and BBQ
- Renaissance Brewing Co.
- Bobby O’s Slices and Pies
- Tulsa Market District
- Tulsa Community College store
- Perkins Architecture
- Benchmark Monument
The city also built a small park on the south side of the 11th Street Bridge that contains three re-creations of neon signs from long-defunct Route 66 businesses in Tulsa.
