The Munger Moss Motel in Lebanon, Missouri, will host a celebration in June for not one, but two, significant anniversaries regarding the Route 66 landmark.
First, the motel itself will be marking its 75th anniversary.
Second, Ramona Lehman will be marking her 50th year as owner of the property.
The gala weekend will be June 18-19.
Bob and Ramona Lehman took possession of the Munger Moss Motel on June 1, 1971, after a fact-finding trip to Springfield, Missouri, to look for properties there.
Bob died in 2019 at age 81.
The motel’s name referred to a sandwich shop of the same name in nearby Devil’s Elbow, Missouri, built in 1936 by Nellie Munger and her husband, Emmitt Moss. The building in Devil’s Elbow still is there as the Elbow Inn, though that property is closed while undergoing renovations.
The couple relocated to Lebanon after U.S. 66 bypassed Devil’s Elbow, and they founded the Munger Moss Motel in 1946.

This is wonderful–long live Ramona and the Motel!
Stayed there 3 years back. Arrived in heavy rain. She allowed us to use her big dryer to dry our clothes.
Congratulations from 4 riders in Greenville, SC.
That sign is beautiful.
