The London Calling restaurant has closed its British double-decker bus at Route 66 Food Truck Park in Springfield, Missouri, so its owners can concentrate their energies on other ventures elsewhere in the city.
London Calling, which started at another location along Route 66 in Springfield about seven years ago, purchased a 1962 Bristol double-decker bus from the United Kingdom and moved it to Missouri. The restaurant found a following with expatriate Britons, plus Dr. Who and Harry Potter fans.
Co-owners Neil Gomme and Carrie Mitchell said they would concentrate on their location at the Battlefield Mall, “Take and Bake” service and mobile food truck. Gomme said consumer tastes have changed during the COVID-19 pandemic. and they are trying to adjust.
The Springfield News-Leader had the story, but most of the information came from a video that London Calling posted on social media.
They said the double-decker bus will be moved to the Price Cutter store on the city’s south side.
