A Muffler Man that once stood at a firewood business in northern Illinois recently went up for sale for $29,000.
The American Giants account on Facebook, which sprang from an interest years ago about the fiberglass giants, posted information on Aug. 6 about the latest one on the market:
This newest arrival is the one that was located at Lumberjacks Firewood in Crystal Lake IL. He came down in May of 2018 when the place changed owners. The Muffler Man has been in storage and is now for sale. Probably in the best shape out of the 3 we have currently listed for sale, he’s got some clear coat peeling and some paint aging but structurally he is sound. No missing pieces or broken parts or cracks that we are aware of. Owner is asking $29K. Please contact the owner for more info. teamlumberjax@hotmail.com
The post was flagged by the Route 66 Association of Missouri, noting the Muffler Man would make an ideal addition for many Route 66 businesses.
According to Roadside America, International Fiberglass made hundreds of the Muffler Men or other giants during the 1960s and ’70s. A map on how to find them is here, including about 18 along Route 66.

I wonder if my neighbors would mind if I moved him next to my workshop at home?
