The Tulsa Route 66 Main Street organization is offering grants of up to $1,000 for businesses for facade upgrades.
According to KJRH-TV in Tulsa, just two of the grants are left, and the deadline to apply is Dec. 31.
“It could be replacement of windows. It could be planter boxes,” Christine Hamner, Route 66 Main Street Executive Director, said. “It could be painting or removal of paint to restore back to original finishes so pretty much anything facade related.” […]
“A visual image is really good for people to see things moving forward and so I think that’s provided a revitalization to the area so now people are getting excited about it,” Hamner said.
The grant applications are available here. The next grant cycle will begin in midyear 2022.
The Josh Stout Gallery in west Tulsa was one of the grant recipients, using the money to strip paint from the original bricks of the building. It previously was covered with a blue-green paint.
