The Skyview Drive-In theatre in Litchfield, Illinois, shattered the record for most dogs at a drive-in theater with 199 during the screening Saturday of “A Dog’s Way Home.”
The previous Guinness world record was 120 dogs. The event at the Route 66 landmark over the weekend was part of Mobil 1’s “Keep Route 66 Kickin'” campaign.
The Skyview reported almost 400 dogs unofficially were at the event, but officials had a safety limit of 200 and stopped registering the canines near that mark. The theater also had a veterinarian on hand for precautionary reasons.

The Skyview was opened in 1950 by Frisina Enterprises, but much of its history is owed to Norman and Del Paul, who owned it for more than 30 years.
In 2016, it was purchased by Pastro Properties Inc., comprised of Mike, Debbie, Nick and Mindy Pastrovich.
It is the last remaining original Route 66 drive-in in Illinois and is a member of the Illinois Route 66 Hall of Fame.
