Rosie Ramos, manager of Fender’s River Road Resort in Needles, dies of cancer

Rosie Ramos, the beloved manager of Fender’s River Road Resort in Needles, California, and an ambassador to Route 66, died of cancer over the weekend.

Tributes to Ramos poured into social media even before her death when friends and relatives let it be known in recent days she was in the hospital, then in hospice care.

Friends were planning a candlelight vigil at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Route 66 motel.

Ramos a few years ago was featured in KC Keefer’s “Genuine Route 66 Life” video series, and it conveys her welcoming personality quite well:

The neon sign she refers to indeed was restored, and it’s very likely the love of Ramos from Route 66 enthusiasts played a big role in that.

Ramos’ son created a GoFundMe campaign to help with medical and funeral expenses.

We’ll post funeral information later if we get it.
