Forthcoming brewery in Amarillo wants to take advantage of Route 66 tourism

The Old Tascosa Brewing Company wants to open a tap room by mid-April along the historic Sixth Street District in Amarillo, Texas, and capitalize on Route 66 tourism, especially with centennial celebrations leading up to the highway’s big year in 2026.

Channel 7 in Amarillo published a story about the brewery and the Route 66 connection it wants to make:

The location of the historic district on Route 66 can work to their advantage as a number of centennial celebrations are expected to provide a boost to businesses from locals and visitors.

“For one it’s Route 66 and lots of foot traffic, lots of people coming through town,” said Welch. “This place is absolutely packed with people walking up and down the street on the weekends my wife and I saw huge opportunities here it can be bustling again.”

“Instead of having visitors just drive through not know where their at maybe stop and get a cup of coffee they’ll know they’re on historic Route 66 spend more time,” said Hope Stokes, director of marketing for Amarillo CVB. “They can tell their friends and family and more people will come in ultimately helping businesses in that area and help revitalize the neighborhood as well.”
