The Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo, Texas, now is offering Conestoga wagons — complete with air conditioning — for overnight stays.
The Big Texan’s and RV Ranch’s Instagram accounts showed off the wagon:
The two decked-out covered wagons are part of improvements at the Big Texan RV Ranch, including its recently completed 11 cabins. The wagons can sleep up to four people each.
The complex also includes a pool, a clubhouse and a pavilion.
The RV park is only about a mile west of the landmark restaurant, though it offers free rides to and from the eatery if customers don’t feel like doing the short drive.
Those who wish to book the wagons or cabins should call the RV park’s office at (866) 244-7447.
The Big Texan also has operated a western-themed motel and Airbnb next to the restaurant for many years.
The Big Texan, best known for its 72-ounce steak dinner challenge, was founded on Amarillo Boulevard (aka Route 66) in Amarillo in 1960.
After Interstate 40 opened in the early 1970s, the Big Texan picked up and moved there to ensure its survival.
