Huge, American Heartland theme park planned for Vinita

An American Heartland theme park that is expected to cost billions of dollars to build and draw 5 million visitors a year is coming to the Route 66 town of Vinita, Oklahoma.

The developers have an ambitious timeline of opening by 2026, which would be the centennial of Route 66.

According to News on 6 in nearby Tulsa:

Mansion Entertainment, a company with ties to Branson, announced a $2 billion investment, which hopes to bring a park larger than the size of Magic Kingdom or Disneyland to just outside Vinita.

“They’ve been meeting with electric, water, gas companies, they’ve already spent hundreds of millions of dollars on this project, now,” Vinita Mayor Josh Lee said. […]

Mansion Entertainment said the park will create more than 4,000 jobs in a town with a population of just over 5,000 people.

Mansion also claims it has all of its funding secured for the project.

More from the Tahlequah Daily Press:

The park will feature an Americana-themed environment with a variety of rides, live shows, family attractions, waterways, and food and beverage offerings in a collection of six distinctly American lands: Great Plains, Bayou Bay, Big Timber Falls, Stony Point Harbor, Liberty Village and Electropolis.

Trenton Langley, Craig County commissioner, said the development will be built along Oklahoma Highway 60 (formerly Route 66) about four miles east of Vinita, and about four miles from the Ottawa County line.

One of the project’s key principals is Gene Bicknell, an entrepreneur who has ties to nearby Pittsburg, Kansas.
