In its 75th year of existence, the Silver Saddle Motel along the Old Route 66 alignment of Santa Fe, New Mexico, has been renovated and rechristened as The Mystic Santa Fe.
According to Albuquerque Business First (subscription required), the husband-and-wife team of Amanda Tucker and Rick Goldberg acquired the property at 2810 Cerrillos Road (aka Route 66) about 18 months ago.
It’s now a three-tiered business: a motel, a late-night restaurant and an outdoor performing space.
The motel now has 24 rooms, including two “Time Capsule” rooms that are in late 1940s to 1950s decor to reflect the Silver Saddle’s early days.
More from the motel’s website:
In honoring the history and presence of The Silver Saddle, The Mystic has kept the footprint of the original rooms and expanded the lobby to now include a café, bar and two lounges. The High Desert Hideaway, our extensive backyard, was created out of an unused section of the property, and now offers a unique event space to celebrate weddings and all other special occasions. The Mystic has repurposed various items from The Silver Saddle in this, its next life, to also honor its roots and legacy, never forgetting where our little gem originated.
A check of room rates on an upcoming weekend shows it running from $275 a night to $700 for full suites.
So its reputation as a budget lodging option in Santa Fe clearly is over.

The sign is so bland and simple. We are far from the beautiful signs of yesteryear with arrows, colors, illustrations and neon lights…
My, what a beautiful rectangular plastic screen-printed sign.
