Groundbreaking is scheduled for Oct. 30 for a gigantic campground near Vinita, Oklahoma, that will feature 750 RV spaces and 300 cabins.
The Three Ponies RV Park and Campground is the first part of a planned $2 billion theme park just off Route 66, reported the Tulsa World.
The groundbreaking for the RV park was announced last week after Vinita City Council voted to annex six square miles east of the city for the American Heartland Theme Park and Resort.
More from the newspaper:
The park will feature an Americana-themed environment with a variety of rides, live shows, family attractions and waterways, as well as restaurant-quality food and beverage offerings, officials said.
The theme park also will include a top-tier 300-room hotel and indoor water park.
The developer is American Heartland, an affiliate of Branson, Missouri-based Mansion Entertainment Group LLC, a performing arts, animation and studio brand. It is the presenting sponsor of the 2024 Rose Parade Grand Finale in Pasadena, California. […]
The RV park with cabins is scheduled to open in 2025, with the theme park planned for a 2026 opening.
The Three Ponies, which will encompass 320 acres, will be the largest campground in the central U.S.

Thankfully there will be plenty of the state left un-humanised. How will the effleunt from the RVs and cabins be treated before it enters the local river systems? And how much extra electricity will be needed to power the site; along with extra amounts of water for the greenery and domestic use? How low is the local water table?
