The Bristow Retail Merchants Association of Bristow, Oklahoma, recently raised a 26-foot-tall “Cowboy Christmas” tree it is touting as the “largest Christmas tree along Route 66.”
According to Fox 23 in nearby Tulsa:
The 26-foot Wisconsin Balsam fir made a long journey to Bristow, nearly 1,000 miles. Molly and Socks Christmas Tree Farm who was in charge of putting up the tree said the process of planning, funding and delivery of the tree took six months.
The tree sits at 8th and Main in Bristow, along Route 66 for those passing through.
The city’s Cowboy Christmas celebration started on Thursday with live music and shopping, and of course, the tree lighting ceremony.
The station also reported the tree contains 1,900 lights.
It wasn’t mentioned by name, but the massively elaborate Route 66 Christmas Chute in nearby Sapulpa, Oklahoma, probably spurred Bristow to put up an albeit more modest decor for the holiday.
As for whether Bristow’s tree indeed is the largest along Route 66, it appears Williams, Arizona, at the least, has one each year that’s taller based on this photo.
