Three individuals will be inducted into the Laclede County Route 66 Wall of Fame during a ceremony next month.
The Lebanon-Laclede County Route 66 Society announced the third set of inductees last week. The ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 27 at the Cowan Civic Center in Lebanon, Missouri, during the society’s annual membership meeting.
The inductees are:
- J. Floyd Caffey, who built a cafe, filling station, campground. feed mill and cabins in the 1920s along Route 66 in Caffeyville, a town that no longer exists;
- Marie Williams, who owned El Rancho and the Holiday motels in Lebanon from the mid-1950s to 1990;
- Barney and Marie Harris, owners of the Harris Cafe — known for “little round pies” — in Conway from about 1930 to 1965.
The Wall of Fame honors “those who made exceptional contributions to the development or promotion of Route 66 or who operated legendary businesses on Route 66 in Laclede County, Missouri.” The winners were chosen from a seven-person committee.
Plaques for the Wall of Fame are displayed at the Route 66 Museum at the Lebanon-Laclede County Library.
The Laclede County Route 66 Wall of Fame inducted its first class in 2022. Among the inductees are Glenn Wrinkle of Wrink’s Food Market and Bob and Ramona Lehman of the Munger Moss Motel.
