A new neon sign that once touted a wedding chapel in Las Vegas was altered and re-erected along Route 66 in Kingman, Arizona, with three weddings recently held underneath after a lighting ceremony.
Here’s a video from the lighting and wedding ceremonies that were held on the evening of Feb. 9:
The Kingman Visitors Center gave away heart-shaped pins that resembled the sign before and during the ceremonies. The nearby Scoops on 66 ice cream store also debuted Raspberry Road Trip (raspberry chocolate) to commemorate the event.
Legacy Signs & Iron of Kingman altered and restored the former Cupid’s Wedding Chapel sign, which originally was acquired by the late Scott Dunton of Mr. D’z Route 66 Diner fame in Kingman.
The sign stands about 200 feet west of the famous Route 66 drive-through shield, directly across Route 66 from Dunton Motors Dream Machines in downtown Kingman.
Jim Hinckley reported that two other vintage neon signs await restoration to be placed along Kingman’s Route 66 — the Brandin’ Iron Motel and City Cafe, both formerly of Kingman.
