Albuquerque Laundromat used in “Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul” destroyed by fire

The Wash Tub Laundromat along Route 66 in Albuquerque, used in scenes in the “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” television dramas, was destroyed by fire Sunday.

No one was reported hurt in the blaze, but the 75-year-old building at 1105 Central Ave. (aka Route 66) probably is a total loss. The owner has vowed to rebuild, but it likely won’t be the same.

Here’s a video from KOB-TV in Albuquerque.

The Albuquerque Journal reported the building once housed a furniture store in 1960. The building was constructed in 1948.

According to a follow-up report by KOB-TV in Albuquerque, surveillance video showed the fire started from a nearby blaze by a homeless encampment that spread out of control.

A website that tracks the series’ shooting locations in Albuquerque, the Wash Tub Laundromat was shown in one scene of the first season of “Breaking Bad” and two episodes of the fourth season of “Better Call Saul.”
