The Route 66 Road Ahead Partnership announced a special online screening featuring an announcement and discussion with filmmaker John Paget about his forthcoming Route 66 centennial film and the premiere of a newly remastered HD version of his acclaimed 1994 documentary “Route 66: An American Odyssey.”
The free online event will take place at 5 p.m. Pacific or 7 p.m. Central on June 6, and it will be available for on-demand streaming for one week.
Paget, with a special guest, will introduce the film and announce his upcoming project, “Route 66: The Main Street of America,” a feature documentary that will celebrate Route 66’s centennial in 2026.
Principal cinematography for the new film began last month at the annual Fried Onion Burger Day Festival in El Reno, Oklahoma.
“Route 66: The Main Street of America” will eventually be broadcast nationwide on PBS, with a screening tour down the historic highway from Chicago to Los Angeles at 26 historic theaters and drive-ins.
The event will include a live post-film discussion with special guests including “Route 66: The Mother Road” author Michael Wallis (who also played a prominent role in “Route 66: An American Odyssey”), producer Jim Jenner and Paget. The live session will begin at 6 p.m. Pacific of 8 p.m. Central on June 6.
The recorded Q&A will be available to stream from June 7 to June 13.
