A severe storm Sunday morning damaged the Illinois Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum on Route 66 in downtown Joliet, Illinois, including ripping off part of the upper facade.
Ron Romero, chairman and creator of the museum, said a check on interior security cameras indicates the artifacts are safe.
The giant neon guitar on the front, labeled Gigantar, also appeared undamaged.
A roof from a half-block away wound up in the middle of the street.
Romero said the museum has good insurance, and it will rebuild.
The museum occupies a 1920s three-story building at 9 W. Cass St. in downtown Joliet, between the northbound and southbound lanes of Illinois 53, aka Route 66. The Joliet City Council gave the building landmark status due to its historic nature.
