This debuted months ago, but a music video by fast-rising music artist Chappell Roan features Gay Parita Station and other landmarks in the Springfield, Missouri, region.
Route 66 enthusiast Liz Cousins flagged the “Hot to Go” video a few days ago, which originally was flagged by the Gay Parita account on Facebook:
In addition to Gay Parita, the video shows the historic Gillioz Theatre, Andy’s Frozen Custard and the World’s Largest Fork, all in Springfield.
The Springfield News-Leader published a story about the video’s shooting locations.
The video has attracted more than 12 million views on YouTube alone. If you want to draw young people to Route 66, that’s one avenue.
Shooting the video was a sort of homecoming for Roan, who grew up in nearby Willard, Missouri.
Roan generated a lot of buzz in the past year, and she arguably is the biggest star in pop music right now. According to the latest Spotify chart, she has the No. 1 single in the world and four others in the top 40 (including “Hot to Go,” at No. 9).
Roan also set a record at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, drawing an estimated 110,000 spectators. No, that’s not a typo.
