Paint donated by Benjamin Moore Paints through a National Trust for Historic Preservation program helped brighten up the Galena Mining and Historical Museum along Route 66 in Galena, Kansas.
Rhys Martin, president of the Oklahoma Route 66 Association and new manager of the National Trust’s Preserve Route 66 Initiative program, recently posted this video of the Galena museum repainting project.
The Galena Mining and Historical Museum, housed in a century-old Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad depot moved from another spot in town, has sat along Route 66 on the city’s west side for about 40 years. It houses a lot of artifacts from Galena’s fascinating and sometimes tumultuous history.
Martin said Benjamin Moore Paints is “looking for more projects along Historic Route 66” and to “let us know there’s a project along the Mother Road that could use the help!”
The program also donated paint for the Road Runner’s Retreat sign near Chambless, California.
More about the paint program can be found here.
