Actor Tim Daly is shooting a film, “Dust to Malibu,” in Springfield, Missouri, and on Route 66 that will be released sometime next year.
According to KY3 in Springfield, Daly told the station the screenplay was set in Springfield. That and tax breaks offered by the state for film productions helped spur the decision to shoot in the Queen City.
“It’s sort of an intimate story about a father and his estranged daughter that takes place on the road. It originates in Springfield, Missouri, so we’re shooting in the real place and were spending time on Route 66 and a lot of the historic sites.”
And according to the movie’s director and cinematographer, the camera really loves Springfield.
“There’s a certain look to this town that could be used in many different types of movies and genres,” said Director Stephen Ward.
“This looks like the back lot of Disney you know, but it’s not, it’s real, you know which is really cool,” said Cinematographer, Ricardo Jacques Gale.
Daly is best known for his Joe Hackett character in the NBC comedy “Wings.” He also has appeared in “The Sopranos” and “Private Practice.” In all, he’s appeared in over 30 films and over 40 television productions.
