Film director Charles Black announced he has begun pre-production on “66 Unlimited: The Road to 100,” a feature-length documentary that celebrates the highway’s upcoming centennial.
Black stated in a news release the film will highlight “its ongoing role as a vibrant symbol of America’s resilience, community, and pioneering spirit.”
As we approach the 100th anniversary of Route 66, “66 Unlimited: The Road to 100” aims to draw viewers into the rich mosaic of stories that paint a comprehensive picture of the highway — from its historical origins to its modern-day rebirth.
The documentary will spotlight the dynamic efforts by communities and businesses along the route to preserve and rejuvenate this iconic corridor, illustrating their innovative adaptations to contemporary economic challenges while honoring the road’s heritage.
Through a blend of personal narratives, community-driven projects and breathtaking scenic views, the film aspires to foster a profound appreciation for Route 66’s legacy.
