The reborn Imperial Inn motel in Albuquerque, also known as simply The Imperial, is holding its grand reopening celebration from 3 to 6 p.m. on Nov. 20.
KOB-TV in Albuquerque the celebration will include tours of the motel’s retail spaces, some of which are still available for rent.
The motel’s website states:
This 1960’s gem has been completely renovated from the inside out. The king and queen guestrooms and extended-stay suites honor the Jet Age styling of the original property with a modern edge.
Whether you are here for a quick visit or a long stay, enjoy a poolside beverage and meal from the onsite cocktail lounge and food hall, featuring local spirits and several local cuisine options.
The Imperial, located at 701 Central Ave. (aka Route 66), reopened to the public earlier this year, showing off the renovation of its neon sign and the rest of the facility.
KOB said the motel’s developers recently finished the rest of the upgrades.
The motel contains 37 rooms, and it retained its original butterfly roof.
Palindrome Communities, which also restored El Vado Motel and Monterey Motel in Albuquerque, restored The Imperial for $7 million, reported the Albuquerque Journal. Renovations began in earnest in 2020.
According to RoadsideArchitecture.com, the Imperial Inn opened in the early 1960s as the Imperial 400 Motel, part of a chain that originated in Los Angeles.
The chain essentially ceased to exist after another company bought it in 1987.
