Thanks to a Business Improvement Grant, or BIG, from the City of Amarillo, Texas, the Old Tascosa Brewing Co. recently installed a retro-styled sign in front of its brewery.
The sign doesn’t have neon, but the chasing lights and big arrow hearken to another era.
The Old Tascosa Brewing Co. sits in the middle of the popular Sixth Street Historic District (aka Route 66) of Amarillo. As far as I know, it’s the only microbrewery on Route 66 in the city.
For the uninitiated, Old Tascosa is the former capital of 10 counties in the Texas Panhandle. Located about 40 miles northwest of Amarillo, it’s now a ghost town. The closest place of any size is Boys Ranch.
