The owner of the 1960s-themed Roadrunner Lodge Motel in Tucucmari, New Mexico, recently announced it was placing the Route 66 motel on the market for $1.64 million.
David Brenner, who has owned it for more than a decade, in a Facebook post said he is offering owner financing for would-be buyers of the motel at 1023 E. Route 66 Blvd.
He’s asking for a $250,000 down payment, with flexible terms for the remainder.
He also touted these features:
- Profitable and fully operational
- Over 1,400 square feet of private attached living space
- Motel is booking up for Route 66’s centennial in 2026
- BrandUSA is driving huge international tourism for 2026
- Includes training and transition support from the current owner.
The motel for years has finished consistently high in customer reviews.
The Road Runner originally was called The Leatherwood, built in 1964.
Benner and his former wife Amanda bought the property, which was called the Royal Inn at the time, restored it and renamed it in 2014.

Great place to stay. I hope the new owners will be as dedicated as the current ones are. It is definitely an asset to Tucumcari and Route 66.
