The City of St. Robert, Missouri, announced a few days ago that it will hold a lighting ceremony for its long-in-gestation Route 66 Neon Park.
The event is slated to begin at 7 p.m. that day. The neon park sits in the George M. Reed Roadside Park within a large median on Old Route 66 in St. Robert.
The city posted images of the first refurbished neon signs from defunct businesses between St. Louis and Carthage along Route 66 in the area being installed this month.
And here’s a video made after the first sign was installed:
The city announced in October that the park would open by spring, but it didn’t set a date until now.
Reed Park and its M-60 tank will remain there to tell the story of Route 66’s importance as a thoroughfare for transporting material during World War II.

Long in gestation? Ew. I hope there’s not a neon placenta.
