Award-winning neon video is online

KNME-TV in Albuquerque a couple years ago produced “Route 66: The Neon Road,” a 25-minute video about New Mexico’s neon-sign restoration program for Route 66 businesses. The video won an Emmy.

That video recently was posted at Google Video; you can watch the whole thing here below.

It’s an enjoyable video. The rockabilly-flavored soundtrack by the Fireballs alone makes it worth viewing.

  1. Nice! It reminds me of the time, shortly after the end of World War 2, when here in Britain lighting restrictions were eased, allowing cinemas to restore their signs in gorgeous neon colours. Most of the youngsters at that time had never seen a neon sign lit.
Similarly, when the illuminated signs went on again in London’s Piccadilly Circus, people came from all over the Country to admire them. They were a fantastic attraction.
    Keep up the good work,
    Peter.

  2. This is an awesome documentary. Restoring the neon is money put to good use.

Hope it can happen in other states.

  3. What does my computer need to have in order to play it. The opening picture of Mr. and Mrs. Vigil pops up, but no movement or sound.

    Thanks!
    Barbara

  4. A lot of hard work obviously, but has it’s I think it was worth the effort, and the pride you must be extremely proud of your results
