Elizabeth Long, a high-school graduate of Marshfield, Mo., and a student that Kansas City Art Institute, painted a 40-foot-long mural depicting Route 66 at the RVExpress RV Park in Marshfield, reports the Springfield (Mo.) News-Leader.
Long received pictures of Route 66 landmarks from Mother Road author Skip Curtis. She spent about 100 hours this summer painting the mural, which is an a main hallway of the RV park.
Long said producing the mural has given her a better appreciation of the area where she grew up.
“I have enjoyed learning about all that I didn’t know. I am happy with how I portrayed the landmarks we decided to put from St. Louis to Joplin.
“I didn’t know all the landmarks. I learned more about the Springfield area.”
