It’s not a joke

Here’s the most original arrangement to Bobby Troup’s “Route 66” that I’ve seen in a lonnnnnnng time — and I’ve seen a lot.

This one’s by Bad Jokes, a band based in Italy.

  1. I liked this interpretation but they must have gotten the lyrics from Chuck Berry’s rendition. “Down to Missouri”, “KingSman, Arizona”, etc..
Still like the original by Bobby the best.

  2. I agree with Ron . . . like the arrangement – but don’t like the lyrics! They left out my hometown – Joplin!!!! I have to have a little ego and say I still like my version!

      1. Ron W. Maybe so , but “Down to Missouri” is way different than “Joplin, Missouri”. I still think they got the lyrics from Chuck Berry’s version. Guess I’m just a “purist” at heart, but I like to hear the song as it was originally written and recorded. 🙂

  3. Well, excuuuse me…
    while I kiss this guy.

Loved it. My first thought was “but I don’t like electronic music” then I quickly realized I was way off base.

  4. WOW! This cover is fantastic! So many covers of this song become boring reproductions. But this version is wonderful! It is such a fresh and new perspective on the original! I love it!

  5. Certainly this version doesn’t sounds very much like the other early Berry covers in approach, starting off slow…increasing…. The guitars grunt, chug, and sting along well with singer’s confident vocal, the band stop-starting dramatically during the bridge to add extra urgency.
