One of the oldest homes on Sunset Boulevard (aka Route 66) in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles may be razed for redevelopment, according to a blog by the Echo Park Historical Society.
The compound of cottages at 2225-2235 Sunset Blvd. (map here) is more than a century old. But the most significant part is the childhood home of Anna Zacsek, a notable silent-film actress who also gained fame as a prominent civil-rights attorney.
This video, uploaded only a few days ago, does an excellent job telling about the cottage and Zacsek’s fascinating career:
In October, the Office of Historic Resources and the Cultural Heritage Commission rejected by a 3-2 vote a bid to make the Zacsek home a Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument.
The society is urging preservationists to register at MyHistoricLA.org and vote for the Anna Zacsek Compound to let the city and Office of Historic Resources know about its historical significance.

How sad! Let’s hope they will reconsider!
Ron M. wrote what I was going to write so, what he said!
The video source for this, by the way, is the same one that brought the video of “the cut” on Sunset recently. Definitely a source worth watching.
As of Oct. 21, 2014, it’s still there.
