A section of Route 66 between Golden Shores, Ariz., and Oatman, Ariz., remains closed after weekend storms washed debris onto the roadway and damaged it, reported the Mohave Daily News.
Monte Wilson, onstruction/design manager for the Mohave County Engineering Department, says it’s uncertain when the road will reopen.
The road is closed from Boundary Cone (Road) to the north edge of Golden Shores, a stretch of about 17 miles. […]
“We received permission (Tuesday from the Bureau of Land Management) to work on it,” Wilson said. But that’s only part of the problem. Now, the county needs the equipment, which is use elsewhere in a county ravaged by heavy rain over the weekend.
“Hopefully this week,” Wilson said of the road schedule.
Hope they get it fixed soon. Bound to be a lot of folks headed for Victorville to the 66 Festival in a few weeks. Looks like there is an alternate route through Mohave Valley so at least you don’t have to miss Oatman.
