Metro Diner’s last day is Nov. 26

Laurel Kane tells me that the sign on the Metro Diner at 3001 E. 11th St. in Tulsa now says its final day of business will be Sunday, Nov. 26.

The Metro is going to be demolished to make way for an expansion of the University of Tulsa’s entrance. The restaurant, which was built in the early 1980s, had scaled back its hours several weeks ago. It’s open from 7 a.m. to just 3 p.m.

For more about the Metro’s plight, read here and here.

I’ll have more about this in coming days if I hear anything. But based on what I’ve heard, a relocation of the restaurant isn’t likely.

  1. Metro will be having an auction Dec. 12th. One for all the equip. at 2:00 p. and the other for the memorabilia at 4:00 p. They will prob. be torn down aroud the beginning of the year.
