The next time you’re hankering for Buffalo wings, go to the Monte Vista Fire Station in Albuquerque.
Yes, Albuquerque.
According to Duke City Fix, a native New Yorker raves about the wings there:
The New Yorker (who has eaten many times at the primordial source of Buffalo wings: the Anchor Bar), likes that the Fire Station Wings aren’t trying to replicate the Frank’s Hot Sauce flavor of Buffalo wings. He found this version “entertaining” and “more flavorful.” He also appreciated that they drained the wings more than they would in New York – where oceanic puddles of grease and oil are the accepted norm.
Monte Vista Fire Station is at 3201 Central Ave. NE, which is Route 66.
