Here’s a short clip on YouTube of Harley and Annabelle Russell, aka the Mediocre Music Makers, performing “Route 66” at their Sandhills Curiosity Shop in Erick, Okla.
The person who posted the video listed them as the “Singing Hill Billy’s.” Doggone it, they’re not hillbillies, they’re rednecks. They do live in the “Redneck Capital of the World,” after all. đ
UPDATE: I neglected to mention that there’s an excellent five-minute video posted here months ago of Harley and Annabelle’s act. You can find it here.
No hills in Erick but at the SandHills Curiosity Shop there is plenty of high talent! In all of my traveling around the world, I have never experienced any attraction like the “Mediocre Music Makers” and rarely were any of those attractions as fun and memorable. After the first visit with them in the early 90s, I knew I would be returning for more and have, many times now, to recharge, realign, and reinvigorate. Harley and Annabelle are a positive force in this world – a virtual tonic of life – that I never miss when traveling along Route 66.
