A few days ago, Staci Sturrock of the Palm Beach (Fla.) Post wrote about her obsession with Route 66, Abraham Lincoln and finding true love, in no particular order.
The article’s a bit self-indulgent, but so is this site at times. đ  So go read it, and let Sturrock take you on a ride.
Loved Staci’s story. Just recently returned from the same trek through Illinois in August, I can relate to the places she visited and the places that are now closed and shuttered. What makes this Mother Road so magical….I think it’s the yearning in us all to find that peace that one finds when we forget about the hussle and bussle of getting somewhere in a hurry and taking the time to really see what has made our country so great…it’s people. The people and their stories along the road ARE what Americana is and will live on through the ages as long as there are people out there willing to slow down and let the road lead them. Great story, Staci!
