USA Today‘s travel staff asked experts from all 50 states what would be a romantic experience in their respective states on Valentine’s Day.
Here’s the entry from Oklahoma:
A cruise down Route 66 in the Tulsa area offers a chance for car-noodling spiced with a little kitsch. In the evenings, listen to the ghosts whisper as the sun sets over the remnants of abandoned motels and gas stations on East 11th Street, or crank up the nostalgia at the Admiral Twin Drive-In. Stop by Hank’s Hamburgers and buy peanut-butter truffles enrobed in decadent chocolate.
— Recommended by Emily Priddy, vice president, Oklahoma Route 66 Association
I should add that Priddy is now the past vice president of the Oklahoma Route 66 Association. She’s still a member, but she voluntarily stepped down from her veep post and handed it over to dedicated roadie Cletus Simpson of Davenport.
